Thought of the Day Number 1. Redistribution of Royalty to affected areas

Philippines issues new mining policy Philippines President Benigno Aquino has signed an executive order that bans mining in prime agricultural and fishing areas as well as in 78 designated eco-tourism sites.

Although the intention to increase the Tax on the Mining company’s from 2% to %5 is very honourable, but it would be nice to see a “mandatory percentage” of the increase of the Royalty to be spent in the areas affected.
